How did it all start ?
1977 - 1982 Dirk has always been experimenting with all kinds of performances. Young Dirk was extremely charmed by the Muppet Show. He forced all his friends to join his own Muppet Theatre. Puppets, scenery, texts: he made it all. And of course it was clear Miss Piggy should have the real Miss Piggy's voice: a voice imitator was born ! |

1983-1987 As a student in engineering, Dirk joined the "revue": an annual show in the Leuven main theatre, in which students made fun of their professors. The actors imitated their professors, and Dirk played another part every year. These shows made Dirk decide to start a career in show business, rather than remaining an engineer. |
1988-1990 After graduating, duty called. Dirk joined IMEC, the world famous electronics research centre in Leuven. But after two years he went into military service. In those days he started "Cabaretteketet": a group of colleagues and friends, mostly former revue-actors, who liked to perform as comedians after working hours. Some of Dirk’s most famous (Belgian) voice imitations were created in those days. |
